We started with some hiragana practice as a warmup.
Based on the test results, I could tell we needed to revisit KSA words... so we practiced that.
We didn't do so well on the reading section of the test, but that WASN'T your fault-- I was asking the wrong questions. I want you to be as successful as possible for your reports, so we will be re-doing the grammar and reading section as a class on Friday.
We looked at how to count people, and how to express age in Japanese, then we played gimkit. To end class, we looked at a traditional family picture, and discussed the similarities and differences to Canadian culture.

We practiced counting the Japanese way on our fingers with the new counting systems, and ended with some conversation using kono, sono and ano.

If you were not happy with a certain section of the test, or would like to re-do the whole thing, that is an option. You get one re-do. I'm available Wednesday-Friday at lunch, and during T-Block. If those times aren't going to work, I can stay after school upon request.

Thursday, September 4th
We reviewed the 3 different forms of writing in Japanese, and how to pronounce the first 5 hiragana in the alphabet. We then did some notes on introductions, and practicing doing so. We played Gimkit for the first time, then we learned about bowing and the cultural importance. I gave you some puzzles to practice the content, then we ended with one last conversation integrating asking for a name.
Tomorrow, we will be starting hiragana!
Wednesday, September 3rd
We did a quick review of what we discussed yesterday, and I showed you this website :) We then looked at reasons to learn Japanese. We took some notes on the different writing systems for Japanese, and I assigned you your textbooks. We got to know the layout of the book, and looked at how to read/sound out some of the characters.
Tuesday, September 2nd
Today, we just started with introductions, class expectations, and the course outline. We touched on why we're here to learn Japanese, and will continue with that tomorrow morning :)
